violet’s bible interpretations part 3
Today’s bible study will look at how Christians are told their god God views women. The Bible is written by men for men, and many of the authors like to be clear to their fellow men exactly how women should behave. I don’t want to linger in the Old Testament because there are way too many, way too odd things to choose from. So we’ll got straight to the more reliable and more sensible New Testament. Remember to check out the original text in your own benevolent deity’s book of truth and love if you think I might be exaggerating.
Ephesians 5: 22-33
Women are ordered to submit to their husbands in everything and remember that men always take the lead. Thankfully men are ordered to love, love, love their wives as they love themselves. In fact, husband and wife are one being. But the man’s in charge.
1 Timothy 2:11 – 15
Women need to shut up and never think they could possibly be in charge of men, because men are obviously better. Women are second-class, they are bad and if it wasn’t for the fact that they can pop out babies, they’d all be sent straight to hell.
1 Peter 3
Women are (yet again, just in case you were unsure) to be submissive to their husbands. Good women are pretty but they shouldn’t have to try in any way by sorting out their hair or wearing nice clothes and jewellery. Because if they are nice and good women, their beauty will be obvious. Therefore, ugly women are evil. Oh, and a good woman calls her husband ‘master’.
If you are a Christian and you think women are entitled to equal rights, you clearly don’t think much of the god God’s book editing powers. Just how powerful and benevolent would such a deity be?

I think a couple of interesting things come into play with ol’ Paul…
his writings were given the “seal of god authority/approval” when on at least three accounts he admits that he is writing his own thoughts/opinions…
1 Cor. 7:12, “But to the rest I say, not the Lord, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, let him not send her away.”
1 Cor. 7:25, “Now concerning virgins I have no command of the Lord, but I give an opinion as one who by the mercy of the Lord is trustworthy.”
2 Cor. 11:17, “That which I am speaking, I am not speaking as the Lord would, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting.”

How strange! What do fundamentalists make of that?

then you have to wonder….what in the world Galatians 3:28 meant in comparison with the others…on women…
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
contradictions? 😉 (P&W probably won’t think so…….) 😉

All one in heaven but down on earth the free men are in charge?

you would wonder why did he have to create women if all he wanted them to be is to seen not heard?

Clearly to be quiet and give birth to the important men (and more breeding mares).
