lurking 14: the end of the world
I’m not back to blogging, but I do enjoy the occasional lurk. And today this little gem from No Laughing Ministries caught my eye, because nothing sparks my interest more than a little speculation about THE END OF THE WORLD.
Right now we are seeing the conflict between the Israel & the Palestinians escalate once again. Not a lot of people realize that the number one reason they’re fighting each other is not necessarily for “Palestinian statehood,” even though the media would have you believe that’s what it’s all about it! It’s for control of Jerusalem! In particularly the Temple mount area, which is where the original and 2nd Jewish temple stood, and where currently the Dome of the Rock, which is Islam’s 3rd holiest site, stands today. Both sides, ultimately, are fighting for control of the Temple Mount area.
Pope Abbas PeresIn a previous blog I wrote about the Abomination at the Vatican, I reported how Pope Francis, along with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli President Shimon Peres, essentially did a dry run of the abomination in a joint prayer service, praying for peace in the Middle East.
The prophetic puzzle pieces are coming together. You have got a group in Israel trying to rebuild the Third Temple. Israel & Palestinians are fighting once again. And the Pope & other world leaders are working hard to bring peace between Jews & Muslims. Once that peace is achieved, then work on the Temple’s construction can begin. Once completed the anti-Christ will be able to walk in & declare himself God/Messiah, and demand to be worshiped.
The-End-is-Near-2All of this is pointing to one event that’s about ready to take place: Jesus Christ is returning for His church!
Will somebody tell these people that Christianity has been plagued by this time-wasting, macabre desire since it’s inception? Oh, that’s right, John Zande already did so in his superb post Death Cult Christianity.
All told, in the last fifty-six generations (1,700 years) there have been more than three-hundred prominent captains of Christianity who have announced with excited yips of childlike anticipation that their god was about to lay waste to all life on earth. In this generation alone there have been over forty major public incidents where socially-reckless, apocalypse-hungry Christian leaders have proclaimed that their god was here and it was time to die… and when the captains speak easily persuadable, astoundingly gullible congregants regretfully listen. Today a staggering 41% of US citizens (130,000,000 adults) believe that their Middle Eastern god will commence its mass extinction of all creatures in their lifetime.
Death cult Christians – get a grip! Stop this embarrassing and self-engrossed obsessional interest in you getting to experience a so-called second coming. At the very least, if you insist on being irrational, pay attention to the words repeated throughout the Bible, like in 2 Peter 3:10:
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.
Give your god some credit, the clearer it seems to you, the less likely it is to happen. Go do something interesting with your time, like asking Israelis to stop thinking it’s okay to kill children and pummel a desperate territory of oppressed people into rubble with multi-million pound killing machines, and telling Hamas that their tactics are doing their people no good. This is what happens when we let men rule the world.
Oh, I do so miss your lovely take on the nonsense! Wonder if Eric banged out the same drivel during the last two intifada’s?

You’re a sweetheart! OK, I’m trying to work out the distances in the universe, but am getting hopelessly lost in the billions and trillions. Heaps of sites have the numbers, but the measures keep jumping around from kilometres to AU’s to light years to parsecs and megaparsecs. I’ve been working off this wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth's_location_in_the_universe and I’m after the distances in kilometres from earth to the Kuiper Belt, the Heliosphere, the Ort Cloud, Solar System, Local Interstellar Cloud, Local Bubble, Gould Belt, Orion Arm, Milky Way Galaxy (diameter), Milky Way Galaxy Subgroup, Local Group, Local Sheet, Virgo Supercluster, Pisces–Cetus Supercluster Complex, Observable Universe.
If we could keep it millions, billions and trillions of kilometres would be great as these numbers people recognise.
No worries if you pass, I’ve also asked Steve for help this morning, but if you enjoy a mild challenge by all means knock yourself out. Happy thoughts.

Great to see you, Violet. I guess you’ve heard by now (came out yesterday) that the PM of Turkey told women that they can’t laugh in public.
Gotta love the Abrahamic faiths. A cancer to the body of humanity and always has been. We’ve already found a cure to this cancer, but sickness is profitable.

Good to see you too! I hadn’t heard about the indecency of laughing in public but will modify my behaviour accordingly. Honestly, this is what happens when we let men have power … when are we going to put a stop to all this??

When men of this caliber experience that which they inflict on others. Just imagine men being told they can’t laugh in public? Just imagine women telling men that god told them to submit to them. Why don’t we create laws that force these types of men to cover up completely (head to toe) in public, because they effing can’t control their sexual urges and tendency for violence. Create laws that force them to wear burqa’s. This will make it more difficult for them to rape, pillage and war. Maybe that’ll teach ’em.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, and for your response! If you don’t mind I would like to address a couple things written in your article.
You said, ” At the very least, if you insist on being irrational, pay attention to the words repeated throughout the Bible, like in 2 Peter 3:10: ‘But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.'” —> That’s funny! Because in my article, in the 10th paragraph, I said, “While it’s true that no man knows the day nor hour, we are expected to be ready. He is coming like a thief in the night….” I guess that means I insist on being irrational, uh?
Please, allow me to continue in my irrational folly…
You said in your response, “Will somebody tell these people that Christianity has been plagued by this time-wasting, macabre desire since it’s inception?” Then you go on to quote James Zande’s article, “Death Cult Christianity,” with the following words: “All told, in the last fifty-six generations (1,700 years) there have been more than three-hundred prominent captains of Christianity who have announced with excited yips of childlike anticipation that their god was about to lay waste to all life on earth., etc.” After that you go on to reference 2 Peter 3;10.
I think it’s funny that you referenced 2 Peter chapter 3! Why’s that funny to me? Well, #1 I had already used those very words in my blog, but #2 if you would have read a little earlier in that very chapter the Apostle Peter wrote these prophetic words:
“Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers (that’s you guys!),
walking after their own lusts. And saying, “Where is the promise of His (talking about
Jesus) coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were
from the beginning of the creation. For this they (talking about you guys, again!) are
willing ignorant…” – 2 Peter 3:3-5
As a matter of fact Peter continues on in verses 8-9 by saying, “But, beloved, be not ignorant (there’s that word, again!) of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise (What’s his promise? Matthew 24:30 – “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. ” As a matter of fact the angels echoed this in Acts 1:11 – “…this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”), as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward (Why? Because He is…) not willing that any should perish (Meaning: Go to hell.), but that all (That’s you, Violet, and James) should come to repentance.”
From there Peter goes into the verse that YOU referenced. Perhaps if you would have read what was leading up to it you would have chose a different verse?
Guys, don’t get me wrong, I want Jesus to return! I long to see Him with my own to eyes, and I long to spend eternity with Him. However, it’s not my will that any should perish. I’m not in some “Death cult” that wants to see God pour out His wrath on humanity. I don’t want to see anyone leave this world to spend eternity in a lake of fire. I want YOU to spend eternity with Jesus, just as I want to spend eternity with Jesus.
You guys aren’t dumb! However, you are heading in the wrong direction on this. I am BEGGING you to turn from the direction you’re going!
You, yourselves, fulfilled Peter’s prophetic words in 2 Peter 3:3-5! These prophecies that I write about are true, and they prove that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, & the Life!
I’m in no way, shape, or form in some “Death cult!” I want you guys to have life. I want you to know life!
It’s you who are in danger of dying. I’m just a man crying out to you to turn from your death, follow Christ Jesus.
John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
I love you guys enough to tell you the truth. I want you to have ever lasting life. Please, PLEASE turn from this path that you’re on! Time is running out! Turn, before it is too late!

So let’s get this straight: You say you’re not in a Death Cult, but you’re thoroughly giddy with excitement and anticipation of the promised apocalypse?
Interesting….
“I TELL YOU THE TRUTH, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” (Matthew 16:28, Luke 9:27, Mark 9:1).
Sorry, Eric, but if the Host, Guest of Honour and Master of Ceremonies of the Christian apocalypse got his own date with annihilation wrong then it’s perfectly safe to categorise any and all ensuing thought of magically-delivered, earth-wrecking firestorms as little more than the demented ramblings of conspicuously unbalanced minds.

So, let’s get this straight: I AM NOT IN A DEATH CULT, GIDDY WITH EXCITEMENT IN REGARDS TO THE PROMISED APOCALYPSE! I am giddy with excitement to meet Jesus face to face. There is a difference!
And as far as your quote from Jesus (“I TELL YOU THE TRUTH, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. (Matthew 16:28, Luke 9:27, Mark 9:1)”) – That prophecy WAS fulfilled when John, one of the disciples that Jesus was addressing when He spoke that prophecy, saw Jesus come “in His kingdom” in a prophetic vision before he died. It’s called the Book of Revelation.
John, please, I BEG YOU!! Listen to me! You, yourself, have fulfilled prophecy in 2 Peter 3:3-5, and I have shown you where Jesus prophecy concerning John’s vision was fulfilled. All of the prophecies concerning Christ’s birth was fulfilled. And all the prophecies concerning His return are about ready to be fulfilled.
Stop this direction in which you are going. You’re waging a war against God that you cannot win! I don’t know why you’re so angry with Him, but trust me: He loves you. He wants nothing more than your love, not your hate.
You’re angry at God, and you’re angry at the world around you. Aren’t you tired of living this way? I know it wears you out fighting this war on life. I know, because I used to be there, myself.
Jesus can change all of that. Stop fighting Him. Surrender to Him. Find the peace that you’re heart is starving for deep down inside.
You don’t have to live like this!

rejie, have you read what is in the book of revelation? It seems that you know a lot about your bible but ignore the frenzy of death and horror that your god supposedly requires at the “end times”. It reflects the death and horror that this god also required in the OT and that it claims to want in Luke 19.
You claim that we should listen to your “crying out”. Why? Why should we not listen to the mullah on the minaret? The rabbi in the synagogue? the shaman under the tree? The bodhisattva sitting on a street corner? Not all of those require a hell to damn anyone who doesn’t believe. Where is your evidence for your god and against the all of the others? There is nothing that says you have any more “truth” than the next theist. And you claim that “time is running out”. How do you know? One more false prophet that says JC is coming “soon”? 🙂 And such lovely nonsense on your site that attacks any other type of Christian other than your version, and of course you have nothing that shows your version is any better. No evidence at all, just your magic decoder ring claims of how you and only you know what your god “really” means.
You quote John 3, but you stop before the good parts where your god says everyone who dares not to believe in it, and those who have no chance to believe in it is damned. So we have promises of eternal damnation and claims that this silly god needs violence and harm to accomplish the things that it wants to happen. Sounds just like any other Bronze/Iron Age god, dependent on fear and ignorance to exist.

Well said, Club. How “loving” this god is to allow the birds to gorge on the flesh of dead unbelievers upon his return (Rev. 19) — those who refused to bow down and submit to such an immoral deity. Apparently, Eric can’t see it because he’s blinded by his love for this Bronze/Iron age god.
@Eric (rejie) — please watch.
