lurking 17: crazy religious conspiracy theory
I’m a bit out of touch with crazy religious conspiracy theories. I know there are a lot out there, and in the Christian world these days they usually have something to do with Israel, abortion or gays. So imagine my out of touch confusion when I read this comment by Higharka on Insanity’s recent post screaming about how intolerant she is:
Part of your reaction is good, but be very careful over these next several years. The same ethnic group that has funded the pro-abortion, gay marriage, immigration, anti-Christian, heavy taxation platforms over the past hundred years is now working to subtly shift public support against other ethnic groups, by using Israel’s ethnosupremacist policies to make it appear as though Israel is suddenly on the side of straight, American, life-affirming Christians.
When you’re looking for allies, don’t turn to the same people who caused all of these problems, even if those people are now suddenly against “the Muslims.” They may always be the enemy of your enemy, but they won’t ever be your friend. Put up the cross, but don’t ever raise Herzl’s idol.
Anyone got any idea what this means? Or is it best not to ask?

I’ve tried to parse this clunker of a conspiracy theory but it makes no rational sense as it stands – other than assert that there is some mysterious and nefarious pro-abortion, gay marriage, immigration, anti-Christian, heavy taxation ethnic group… which to me sounds suspiciously like those darn Swedes… or maybe Mayans. Six of one, half dozen of the other, methinks. Those Mayans always did side with Israel… back in the day.
But now that I think about this ethnic group, maybe its those Thetans. Everyone knows you can’t trust a Thetan… they steal, you know… one sock at a time.

I think it’s suggesting that Israel sides with the American right, and as a result liberals will turn against Israel because they supposedly like to persecute right-wing Christians and anyone who sides with them.

I see what you mean, but I can’t get that meaning from the comment. What ethnic group is she/he referring to? Also, Insanity was on an anti-abortion rant and she/he was cautioning her for being in that camp as far as I can tell.

That’s a good point. I don’t know what “ethnic group” is mentioned in the beginning. I can’t think of any one ethnic group that is always pro-choice, pro marriage equality, etc. Race just doesn’t work like that.

Words mean whatever I want them to mean, even if they meant something else only a minute ago. The one which stood out for me was “life-affirming” meaning I think “anti-choice”. I can’t think what ethnic group he means either, unless he thinks the Democrats are funded by the Russians or Chinese.

No, not at all. But that’s the thing, Higharka was getting his/her left and right confused. He/she hates Israel, but then got himself/herself all muddled in who, exactly, is fawning all over Israel. Hint, it’s not the left.

One of the most interesting developments of the last couple of generations has been the development of the active Christian support for Israel and the Jews. I say interesting because for most of its history the Church and Christian leaders had been the most violent opponent of the Jews.
(Saint) John Chrysostom, considered perhaps the greatest preacher of the early Church said:
Whilst Chrysostom’s views are at the extreme end, it represents the mainstream Christian view through to, and definitely including, Martin Luther.
So what has changed, why do Christians now so like the Jews? Perhaps there are two factors, one guilt the other apocalyptic. I suspect Christians have a lingering guilt that the holocaust occurred on their watch. But the real issue is that since the nation of Israel was re-established the Christian crazies have been immersed in the book of Revelation and are eagerly trying to help bring the prophecies to fulfillment. They see this as requiring a strong and powerful Israel. Then God will intervene and everything will be put in order.
But if only they understood their history they would see this is the view the Jews had around the time of Jesus, they thought it only we encourage a war then God will intervene and bring about the eschatological kingdom. The Jews were wrong, not because they misunderstood their Scripture, but because their Scripture was of human not divine origin. No different for the Christians I ‘m afraid. The Book of Daniel, if correct, would have had it all happening around 160 BC. But it is failed prophecy.

Thanks Peter, that’s a really useful summary. Higharka has responded and it seems she/he is of the brand that wants to swing back and blame the Jews for everything. I hope it’s not a wider trend.

I’m afraid to say Colourstorm, you’ve lost your mind in your own cartoon of reality. Peter and I were quoting Chrysostom to demonstrate Christian thinking and attitudes towards the Jews, not mine, and I assume not Peter’s, either.
And Colourstorm, I’m also afraid to say, it’s not just Jewish scholars who recognise and acknowledge the Pentateuch is inventive 6th and 7th Century BCE geopolitical myth. The entire dismantling of the myth was started by American Christian archaeologists who were looking to confirm the bible stories. Every biblical scholar knows this. The Catholic church knows this and notes it in its published bibles! It’s just you evangelicals in the US who haven’t caught up with reality.

But look at what you do: you replace what’s true (you confuse the metaphorical with the literal) what you want to believe is true (I hate the light and love the darkness) and think yourself insightful. You’re not… at all. You’re actually obtuse and think your method is profound and wise when it is in fact shallow and foolish. I think the person clarified which ethnicity was being referred to, but it can be concluded also from the comment itself. References to Herzl most likely involve Theodor Herzl, an early Zionist. From there, the comment infers that the Israelis somehow are behind the legalization of abortion, gay marriage, and high tax rates. Meanwhile, the person asserts that this is being covered up by policies which try to make Israel look like it is friendly to conservatives in the United States.
It seems like this is an old-school brand of Antisemitism, implying that Jews are somehow trying to undermine Christians in the United States.

It’s a typical, “This group is secretly out to get us” conspiracy theory. The warning is vague because it is intended to promote keeping away from being nice to Israeli Jews. In this manner, it’s no different than other Antisemitic warnings about Jews.

1) Who I am shouldn’t matter when evaluating something I may have written. The content of what I have written should matter–not the messenger.
2) I am not Christian, so even if the messenger did matter, if you are going to criticize me based on my identity, rather than my message, you should be criticizing something other than Christianity.
3) The quotes you offered from me are not referring to a fanciful, dismissible “conspiracy theory.” They’ve moved into the realm of boring, humdrum, everyday fact. Here is self-identified Jewish media figure Joel Stein, nearly seven years ago, discussing the issue:
“And maybe my life spent in a New Jersey-New York/Bay Area-L.A. pro-Semitic cocoon has left me naive. But I don’t care if Americans think we’re running the news media, Hollywood, Wall Street or the government. I just care that we get to keep running them.”

There have been various times during the Zionist wars of the mid- to late- twentieth century in which it became briefly popular to claim that Jewish representation in media ownership was not vastly out of proportion to Jewish shares of the populations of America, Canada, and Europe. However, those times are now past. It is not a secret, or a conspiracy, or even an insult. It is as basic, simple, un-prejudical a fact as that Chinese people control the Chinese media.

It may have been good that Jewish media figures have spent fifty years establishing abortion, immigration, affirmative action, and excising Christianity from American public life. Maybe those things are good! What I was trying to tell IB was that those same ethnic groups are now, after so long bashing her culture, trying to enlist her in a different way. Instead of using “homosexual rights” to get American atheists to pay for Israel’s colonization of Africa, and the genocide of millions of impoverished North Africans, Jewish ethnic groups are now using “race realism” and “nationalism” to attract American Christians to supporting that same colonization.

Your link to Alan Dershowitz actually runs counter to the claims you’re making here. That these media conglomerates are owned by Jews does not automatically mean there’s a conspiracy. You have to allege more than ownership. Otherwise, one could allege that there’s a secret Christian cabal that insists on running the U.S. because all Presidents have been professed Christians.

I detest conspiracy theories and their proponents as I find myself checking light bulb sockets for hidden cameras. This is also why I have a piece of chewing gum stuck over the camera on my laptop so the CIA can’t pump a dose of knockout gas through my laptop via my internet connection and hack my Post Office savings account while I am unconscious.

When you’ve gone through them, I’d be happy to talk about all the usual suspects–Boasian anthropology, the Frankfurt School, the progression of anti-sodomy laws in the U.S., and other topics of that nature. I’m quite confident that I’ll be able to show you that it’s not at all a conspiracy that Jews, representing less than 2.5% of the population of the U.S., have had an at least twentyfold factor of influence on the social issues we’re discussing.

If what you say is true, have you considered the possibility that as people who suffered immensely in the last century they have a heightened sense of empathy that has been used to drive sensible social change? All the changes you list are about equality and compassion.

2) 50 million gentiles (non Jews) died in World War II
3) Therefore…Jews learned more empathy? Is that how it works?
Here’s another series to consider:
1) Predominantly Christian Germans killed 5-6 million European Jews in World War II
2) Predominantly Jewish Bolsheviks killed 50-60 million Russian Christians prior to World War II
3) Therefore…Jews learned more empathy than Christians during the twentieth century.

1) The Torah is the filthiest, most racist text known to mankind, advocating the genocide, torture, and enslavement of even infant children belonging to non-Jews

It’s interesting–no matter what time period in which one lives on Earth, the most powerful banking institutions are always supporting warfare. And since the Torah was written, there’s been an unbroken correlation between that book and those banks.
What’s even more interesting, though, is how eager all of you supposed “atheists” are to revere the culture produced by the Torah. You love and respect the Torah, and you love and respect its followers. When you say you’re an “atheist,” you don’t have problems with Buddhists, or Shinto, or Hindus, or Scientologists. Instead, what you really have problems with are Christians and Muslims. All of your time, attention, and mockery are reserved for a very specific subset of theology. One would think that, if you were really atheists, you would be excoriating the Torah and the Talmud, and lambasting one of the world’s only states in which citizenship is expressly based upon religious ethnicity, much more often.
And you’re not. That shows something. I won’t say exactly what, but it certainly does show something.

That’s an interesting perspective. Let’s consider what you said through a non-paranoid, non-anti-Semitic lens.
1) 5-6 million Jews died in World War II, systematically exterminated in the most foul manner possible specifically because of deep-seated racist attitude towards them.
2) 50 million other people died in World War II, mainly as the tragic side effect of a politically motivated war, each side thinking they were on the ‘right’ side and killing whoever the enemy happened to be in warfare.
3) Jews, like gypsies and people with learning disabilities, were chosen by warped minds as not worthy of living, and many people who should have known better turned a blind eye for a long time.
Here’s another series to consider:
1) Predominantly Christian Germans killed 5-6 million European Jews in World War II
2) Russian Communists in pursuit of a state free of religion killed 12-20 million of their Christian countrymen prior to World War II
3) Therefore, a lot of different people killed a lot of other people for no good reason.
And another:
1) The Torah is typical of it’s time, believing all outsiders to be barbarians and lesser than those who wrote it. It advocates typical behaviour of the time, such as killing enemies, torture, and enslavement of anyone not of their people.
2) Therefore, any group of people who hate another group of people because of their ethnic origins are racist and bigoted.
3) The Gospels of JC build on the Torah by extending the potential blessing of the imaginary cloud man to all people, regardless of racial background.
4) Therefore, urban Jews with 8- and 9-figure net worths who push for a more equal society are welcome in any culture.
Another:
1) The South African apartheid regime, and those foreigners who supported it, are a group composed of terrible, racist people who unfairly exploited a continent. This is because South Africa was a settlement composed of mostly white people who murdered the natives in Africa, claiming that white genetic superiority entitled them to control of the land. This is also because those white people then established a government based upon segregation, forced resettlement, and racially-exclusive democracy.
2) The Israeli situation has some parallels but overall any comparison is laughable.

Atheists are likely to call out the main religions in their own society that impact negatively on the lives of people round about them. In Europe and the USA, most atheists are most familiar with Christianity in this role, and the growth of Islam within their culture.

Thank you very much, violet–so much information in such a little space. I take it you’re unaware of the connections between Hitler and Zionism, Hiroshima and Stalin, and Jewish ethnosupremacy and Bolshevism. More importantly, though–far more importantly–I think that, even if you were or became aware of those things, it still wouldn’t change the deeply held beliefs about the nature of the world which you were taught in childhood and which you intend to maintain throughout your life. If Christians set off a bomb for Christianity, you see religious terror. If Muslims set off a bomb for Islam, you see religious terror. If Jews set of a bomb for Judaism, you see a resigned but necessary defensive action.
In my own case, it did take me quite a lot of research time in university libraries before I was able to even begin to contemplate the terrible deception I was taught in my own childhood. If you don’t have that opportunity, but if you’re willing to read and study, I’m happy to help you. But in either case, I do empathize with your desire to cling to that childhood narrative.
The thing, I think, that was able to first help me break past that faith was reading about what it was doing to its current victims. I had always been deeply touched by by the slave trade and the genocide of the Amerindians, but as I looked at the systematic brutalization of the Palestinians, it became clear that I couldn’t keep believing the narrative of perpetual innocence and victimhood. I hope that someday, you will have enough empathy to clear your mind of rationalizations for mass murder. Even if it takes you years, I will be happy to receive an e-mail from you, and to help you begin to understand that all genocide is wrong, no matter what banner it occurs under. ❤

You’re so wrong you’re not even wrong; you’re just an antisemite smearing your smattering of crafted and carefully chosen factoids across the broad swath of history to create a fictional conspiracy that is morally repugnant to anyone capable of honest analytic thought. Yours is a small and bigoted mind heavily polluted by the toxins of your own pernicious and malignant beliefs.
The mistake you make is believing that the group identity you have selected is real and accurately describes the members you assign to populate it. This is groupthink in action and you are guilty of promoting it by abusing history to say what you want it to say rather than what is the case.

8) Can you name ten prominent early academics who established the Frankfurt School’s “critical theory” method of critiquing European and American societies?
9) Can you summarize what Critical Theory (and its successor, Critical Race Theory) says about non-Jewish ethnic groups in western Europe and America?
10) Can you name ten prominent Bolshevik revolutionaries? Can you name the first two heads of the Bolshevik’s secret police?
11) Do you know how many Cossacks the early Bolsheviks murdered? What made those killings legitimate and moral, and why were those killings not a racially motivated genocide?

Goodness, there’s no need to insult the differently-abled by comparing them to such as me. Isn’t that sort of behavior a faux pas around here?
Something tells me, though, that around here, making fun of someone by suggesting that they have a disability is perfectly acceptable. Discussing media ownership ethnicity rates is prejudiced, anti-Semitic, and wrong by the group’s standards, but mocking disability is A-OK.
That’s one conclusion that I hope I’ve drawn incorrectly.

If you ever find the time, do what I have done and go check out a statistic that I think renders your conspiratorial opinion moot; walk the Canadian cemeteries in France – particularly WWI – and actually look at headstones. Sure, most are stamped with Christian crosses but you’ll find thousands stamped with the Star of David and then ask us again to believe in ‘their’ nefarious plots.
Oh, by the way, you forgot to include the Jewish banking plot and the take-over of classical music direction and performance. You really need to make more room for those in your conspiracy. And then there are the bagel makers… oi vey.

But I see a lot of Conspiracy theories just as a way of people letting their inherent bias and paranoia override their common sense.
Conspiracy theories like 911 being a government job gain ground not only in the US but in the Muslim World in particular. People cling to such views even after Osama Bin Laden admitted he was behind it.
I have noted of late many people spread the conspiracy theory that the West is behind ISIS. It is just such utter rubbish that if someone believes it then they have clearly left objective reasoning at the door. But is is quite similar to how people cling to religious belief when all the evidence points the other way. When one looks at the reasoning put forward by a YEC for Noah’s Ark being a real story, it is using conspiracy theory type thinking. The people want to believe so only look for ‘evidence’ that confirms what they already believe. They probably have no idea they are totally deluded.

Okay…so, let’s say that in the United States, Jews make up less than 2.5% of the population, but they represent 14% of legislators, 28% of judges, 85% of corporate entertainment and news media producers/owners, and control more than 35% of national wealth. Average Jewish household wealth is significantly greater than average White, Asian, Black, or Hispanic household wealth.
Certainly, then, Jews aren’t oppressed or marginalized, right? So, is it okay to put up a banner saying JEWS READ THIS?

Wealth is AN important factor in oppression. That’s why I listed several different factors.
In pre-Nazi Germany, we know that Jews controlled a disproportionately larger share of wealth (per their representation in the general population), publishing companies, and judges, but that their control was comparatively recent–so obviously, just having money and legislative votes doesn’t prevent oppression. In modern Europe and America, though, they have all those things plus the decades-entrenched criminalization and anti-socialization of questioning their actions as groups or individuals. Witness, e.g., everyone here, who is afraid to question one of your spiritual foundations about one particular group, whereas you’re open to questioning those of other ethnic or religious groups.
In Europe and America, public deference to Judaism is mandatory. Decades of school instruction and public buildings have been built around the idea that Jews are a master race, inherently morally superior and incapable of committing wrong.
Jews are a numerical minority, but a social and financial majority. Statistics show that they have not just more money and power (average household wealth and legislative/corporate representation) than other ethnic groups, but also, the pre-emptive criminalization of other ethnic groups. Ergo it is possible that everyone else may be oppressed, but no longer possible that Jews are oppressed. Simply put, they’re in charge. The Reich might be good, or it might be bad, but whatever it is, it responds to Jewish interests more than to general interests or other groups’ interests.

People who are afraid to treat Jews like adults, and who childishly worship them instead, tend to not really know much about Jewish inter-ethnic issues, Semitic history, or Jews’ own preferred philosophies of anti-miscegenation and cultural maintenance. If you looked into some of the issues I raised previously, you might begin to learn more about the people whom you’re insulting by pretending to “protect” them.

People of Jewish origin are generally more successful in worldly terms than many of the rest of us. I could speculate if you wish – a good financial head start in the middle ages when usury was illegal in the Christian world; a gene pool with rich creative and intelligence streaks; or simply the psychological boost of a religion that tells them they are the best, chosen people of the only creator god. Whatever the case, they do well in quite specific fields.
However, this is a chance occurrence based on how humanity has developed. Their contribution to the development of specific schools of thought that have been influential in western culture is a conspiracy in what way?

You’re pulling random threads from all over the place in a desperate manner.
You came here making the assumption that we’re all blinded to the ongoing inhumane action of the Israeli government. I’ve pointed you to my post about Israel twice now and you’ve ignored it because you want to believe your little conspiracy that no-one criticises their actions.
