we are cursed and doomed
Replicas of an arch in the 2,000-year-old Temple of Bel, among the last remaining parts of an ancient Palmyra, Syria, structure demolished by the Islamic State, will be erected in London and New York.
The temple has been systematically razed, with the 50-foot-tall arch among the few remaining elements of the building still standing. The temple, dedicated in 32 A.D. to the Mesopotamian god Bel, attracted 150,000 tourists per year until 2011, when the civil war in Syria began.
The full-scale replicas, now under construction in China, will stand in London’s Trafalgar Square and New York’s Times Square during World Heritage Week in April 2016. (UPI)
Perhaps your first reaction on reading this piece of news will be along the lines of feeling sad that so much is being destroyed in a time of war, perhaps you will be pleased that something is being done to preserve what we know about this ancient structure and share it around the world, perhaps you will be excited about the prospect of visiting one of the replicas.
Or … you might want to ignore all the cultural and political significance of erecting these replicas, and fit it into your warped world view (tagged Satan’s Dominion) and think that a replica of an ancient monument can have supernatural significance. As this blogger does:
I’m sure you have heard America called the modern day Babylon. I have to admit that it is difficult to deny that charge when we are putting up a monument of worship to the false god Baal. Soon, in the heart of one of our most important cities, there will sit a temple, that in ancient times, gave witness to child sacrifices and bisexual orgies at the altar of Baal.
We can deny that’s what we’re doing all we want. But our modern day practices of child sacrifice (abortion) and sexual immorality (everything from pornography to transgenderism, and everything in-between) give testimony to the fact that our core actions and social philosophies remain eerily similar to ancient Babylon and the worship of Baal. (Salvation And Survival)
My thanks to FUTURET for letting me know that “WE ARE CURSED AND DOOMED”.
Nice. Where do you find these people? Seriously, where? Is there some sort of WP search engine?

Click on the link at the bottom. Futuret, Insanity’s friend WHO TYPES LONG COMMENTS IN CAPS was kind enough to donate this one. I thought it was interesting enough for the info about the replicas, the rest is just a bonus. 🙂

I went over, but can’t comment using WP. Pity.
Is there, though, a WP search engine thing? Sometimes I feel rather mischievous and would like to type in Abortion is Murder, or some such nonsense, and see where that roller coaster goes.

Maybe tag surfing is illegal in Brazil. You don’t have access the box. The only explanation. Or are you drunk again? I don’t know, between you and SOM …

*woozy from fainting* Go to your Reader. Find something that says Tag and type a word you’re interested in. But if that is too confusing, just go to Google, type ‘wordpress’ and whatever you want to look for and hit Enter.

There’s no search box there, and I never use my reader anyway.
Alright, i’ll consult Google, but that won’t be up-to-date.

John, are you seriously telling me you’ve never hung about on the Atheism tag?? How did you mean so many other bloggers? Do you rely on people finding you?

I don’t even know what an “atheism tag” is. As far as I knew, my reader just listed the newest posts by people I follow. I don’t check that because if I follow someone i do it properly, via email alerts.

John, don’t feel bad – I can’t comment on those kinds of blogsites either (not that I would want to, on hers). I think it’s b/c we have WordPress blogs (??)

It’s not that Carmen. He doesn’t know how to use the tag function on WordPress to look at other blogs. The most basic part of the Reader…sigh, poor John.

egads, well. . .it would be, “Poor Carmen”, too, as I don’t know how to do that either. The pair of us, goin’ to cyberhell in a hand basket. 🙂

Seriously?? You too. Wow. Do you not browse WordPress generally on your Reader? I don’t have much time these days, but I’m sure it’s how I found most of you.

I do, but I had to do a quick think as to how I ”find” certain blogs. Only when I clicked on the reader did I realise that I have, in fact, used the tag thingy before, and only because I stopped email subs due to my inbox getting clogged.

It’s Friday night and bedtime – the reading is just too much entertainment for me (I think it’s referred to as low-hanging fruit, isn’t it?)
I sometimes think that these people honestly believe that their ‘caller who art in heaven’ is keeping a scorecard on each of them and puts another bingo chip on every time they utter their pronouncements. Jesus H.

(I checked out her site – the other day she was calling for war on ISIS; you know, the christian attitude and all. I mean, (her) god had to do it. . . !).

Nice one! Because she is Belle Ringer, isn’t she? I did pick that up. Cool name. It’s a lot of responsibility, ringing bells for the end of the world … killing is bound to feature.

Do these people even ever read the book they so claim to revere? Baal is also one of the earlier names used of YHWH in the Old Testament. Wonder why? 😉
Seriously though, this only goes to show how the Christian fundamentalists are of the same ilk as the Muslim fundamentalists. That is, the writer is equally abhorred of the ancient cultural monument of the altar of Bel as the ISIS is, and for the same reasons. No doubt, if she/he could equally abuse power, she/he would destroy such monuments and/or at very least would not allow the erection of any replicas in museums for very similar superstitious reasons. Such Vandals!

It’s not just Christian and Moslem fundamentalists. All fundamentalists, religious or otherwise are the same. They are convinced that only those who agree with them are right. Everyone else is wrong. Not only wrong, but willfully wrong.
