I’m a bit of an opinionated ranter. In a spell of living in another country with a limited audience to rant at in my mother tongue, I started blogging to air the various monologues that occurred to me. I’ve been trying to do so in a tempered and rational manner. Rather than rant.
I hope anyone who stumbles across my posts can find something of interest and I welcome further discussion on all topics. I love a good argument exchange of opinions and ideas!

You are right, been a bit “subtle” as of late, then again I haven’t turned on the TV in a week that may have something to do with it. Nevertheless something will surely strike a nerve sooner or later. 🙂

Haha, that’s hilarious! And I suspect you’re a bigger ranter than me. Do you have any other English speakers around? I’m the only native English speaker in the town I live in, so my chatting options are seriously limited. My Spanish is fine for general social requirements but crossing the line into the kind of fluency required for eloquent wit and sarcasm completely eludes me. (Perhaps in English too but at least I can have a stab, hehe)

Just my wife. Outside that my conversations are conducted on what anthropologists call the Tarzan Level of communication. Amazing though how fast eyes and gestures come into their own to take up the slack.

On, I love Billy Connolly, Argus. I reckon his demonstration on the Parkinson Show of a Glaswegian drunk is one of the funniest comedic moments in history.

I just sensed that being Scottish and knowing how all you Mel Gibson/Braveheart descendants feel about the Auld Enemy, you still feel you have to justify your patently erroneous claim that you speak English. It’s like American and Australians saying they speak English.

Didn’t see that one yet. Loved his ‘Dressage Drunk’ in the ‘World Tour of Scotland’ series (brilliant, well worth the pennies on Amazon). I had a very elegant mate who was exactly that when in his cups. I was more the astronomer type myself.

Thanks Victoria! It wasn’t a conscious break really. I just didn’t have anything to post, then couldn’t concentrate to read posts, and gradually drifted out of even lurking. My primary concerns are napping and snacking .. although I did feel a rush of irritation when I passed some evangelising Jehovah’s Witnesses earlier today. 😀

JW’s? Oh you poor dear. lol I recently had a run-in with two Mormon guys. They had paid a visit a couple of times, and not long ago I heard the neighbor’s dogs barking. Looked out the window and sure enough they were at the neighbors door. I knew they were coming over so I quickly slipped into a sexy outfit with pushup bra included, and when I opened the door, there was a gulp and both of these guys eyes immediately looked at my cleavage then turned red in the face. With a big smile on my face, I invited them in, and they declined.
Tee hee. I have found a sure-fire way to get around these fundies. 😈

Thank you Victoria! Just saw this. The delivery was excruciatingly awful, in my opinion. But the midwives seem to think it went well. And no-one was damaged, which in the circumstances makes us all lucky.
I need to do a post on this awful curse of womanhood, and how modern drugs must be a slap in the face to the god God’s punishment plan, which is why he invented the ‘natural birthing’ movement …

I’m so glad to read that you got through it. I’ve only had one child and there was nothing beautiful about the experience, and I had over 100 stitches because I tore badly. However, I couldn’t wait to have my daughter and loved being a mama. I am looking forward to your post. I have read many articles where throughout the past and even today, fundie men believed women should suffer pain during childbirth and not get any pain relief. It was their “due punishment” ordained by a “loving God”. Yet they don’t even realize that this suffering and toxic stress can affect the well-being of the baby, especially if it’s prolonged. I know I’m preaching to the choir. Btw, have you seen this? LOL
I watched another one (a documentary) where a man did an experiment — and he couldn’t get through the last stages of labor.

This belief is more common in America than people (Christians) are willing to admit. After the 8 minute marker (if you can stomach his narcissism, he also says that c-sections are satanic rituals and children are cursed if they were born by mothers who had c-sections or epidurals. I remember hearing preachers spew this woman hating crap when I was a believer. There are some effed up dudes in my neck of the woods.

Unforeseen to me Arch. Not to Him. He doesn’t bother to consult with me about how to run his universe. “Having my back” usually means something different to me than it does for him anyway. I am eternally grateful that it’s the case. I’m learning that he’s smarter and wiser than I am. You’ll learn that eventually too. I pray that you do so voluntarily. (no, that is not inconsistent with my Calvinism 🙂 )

I am voting SNP because 1. I believe that it’s the only way to keep the Tories out (Moribund can say what he wants, he won’t be able to form a government without SNP help), and 2, I want Westminster to honour “The Vow” they made before the Independence Referendum, and only a strong Scottish voice will ensure that.

I was considering voting for them because policy-wise I quite like them. But then I remembered how nationalistic they are and just can’t do it – they’re doing a good job of playing it down these days. I’m going to vote Green, I want to show support for a party that stands for proper change. I also hate the idea of tactical voting – everything that’s bad about our stupid first past the post system.
