blog break II
As some of my best blogging buddies have spotted, I’m on another blog break. Interesting to note that in my case at least, whatever fuels my need to air online rants and chastisements disappears in pregnancy. We are helpless against our chemical ebbs and flows, which is why I once again call upon all aggressive people (more often men than women) to take control of their lives by opting for the Voluntary Anti-Violence Therapy Programme outlined in my best posts here and here.
Duck photo dedicated to Ark.

Oh there you are. Hope you are well. I feel that you have left me with the mantle to berate The Ark in your absence, and you dedicate your duck to him. Best wishes for the duckling/s.

Sorry about that, but you’re a better woman for job. Don’t cut him any slack! 🙂

Wouldn’t a rush of motherly hormones inspire one to berate the silly-of-mind more?
(So, which way are you voting… or is it a secret?)

One would think. But apparently it just makes me want to sleep and watch bad TV.
Still not decided about the vote – probably no, but with lingering concerns about missing the opportunity for a clean-ish political slate. You in Chile?

Going in September, I think.
You see Argentina defaulted again, today? What a country…
LikeLike
No, I didn’t but just read about it and they haven’t defaulted yet. Please look on the bright side, they’ll be defaulting in a month. 😀
How come you’ve stopped posting? A regurgitated Mayfly post really don’t count as new material. Are you working on a secret book??

They have defaulted, but now they have 30 days to try and strike a deal. Can’t see that happening as they’re calling all reasonable requests for paying what they owe “extortion.” So, in their eyes, they borrow money, refuse to make any repayments, ignore the mounting interest, and then when the creditors call the debt in they accuse them of being the criminals. Astonishing!
Taking the winter off from posting. Decided someone needs to do some serious promotion of the omnimalevolent creator.

What does that mean?? Are you coming back with a bang and explanation.
I asked my Argie if he knew, and he made a comment about the vulture funds. He hates Cristina but she’s clearly indoctrinated her version to the whole of Argentina …

It means there are far too many foolish people believing in a benevolent god fellow, and no one promoting the more reasonable explanation for the world, if one wants to believe in an Omnimax thingy. Whacking out a treatment on Him, in all his wickedness 😉 That, and work is getting in the way.
Vulture funds? Nonsense. These are people who bought Argentine Government Bonds! That country has gone utterly insane.

She’s waxing lyrical about being held to ransom by vulture funds. The public have bought it.

They would. I can’t speak too highly of Brazilian smarts, but at least they have a fair grasp of the concept of Lending/Borrowing/Repaying. Does your Argie friend not understand this money is for Argentine Bonds? You know, the pieces of officially stamped paper the “government” guarantees….
I think my mother was right when she said, “Thank your lucky stars this country (Oz) was settled by the English, and not the Spanish, the French, or the Portuguese.”
Hey, if you Picts vote to leave the Great, will that mean the Union Jack will be obsolete?

I am well, thank you. I tend to assume that if a blog is not updated for a time, the blogger has something better to do, but it is nice of you to reassure us.

Yay — she’s surfaced. Great to see you, Violet. You are sorely missed. Both you and John have taken a break. I’m not a happy camper, but I understand.

I didn’t realise John was on a break, but I’m guessing just a posting break, he still seems to be around. I’ve emerged from the worst of the sickness phase (fingers crossed) but still don’t think I could muster up the energy for getting back to it properly. Anything interesting been happening? I could lurk … just a little bit.

“Anything interesting been happening?”
Just the usual bullshit from the religious fanatics hellbent on turning the U.S. into a theocracy. As I’m sure you are aware, on Monday the Supreme Court ruled that religious commercial enterprises, including corporations, partnerships and sole proprietorships, can opt out of any law (except tax laws) they judge incompatible with their sincerely held religious belief.

I wasn’t, just read it and commenting. I remember when you first mentioned it and I was thinking it could never pass …

Hilarious!
Actually , I am already a godparent to a nicer kid one could hope to meet.
But, yeah, if I can share duties with John Z, I’ll put my hand up, no problem.

Getting there. I’m not feeling quite so sick and tired and I couldn’t resist dp’s nonsense on a quick lurk earlier this week. Don’t think I’ll be at full capacity for a while though. How are things going with you?

Slow John. It’s research intense. It’s primarily about the brain’s role in religious experiences. Thanks for asking. 🙂 I was thinking about you this morning. Can’t wait for you start posting again.

Are you looking into Skinner’s work (was it Skinner?) with rats (who were wired up) and the Cult of the Button? Laurence McKinney wrote about it in his book, Neurotheology.
LikeLike
I have a lot of Skinner’s work stashed away in files. Fascinating experiments. There is so much data out there that it’s hard to narrow it down. I’ve been stashing this data away for years. Right now I am experimenting on myself using some rather advanced neurotechnology. I plan to share the results in the book.

Absolutely. We we finished the pyramid, but never the tank. The whole thing became a pot smoking den that could hold up to 15 people 🙂
